Building Cycles of Success℠ is our signature youth financial empowerment program, equipping young people with the skills, confidence, and vision to break cycles of poverty and resist the pull of violence. Through engaging workshops, mentorship, and real-world experiences, participants learn money management, career readiness, and leadership—utilizing financial literacy as a pathway to safer, stronger communities building cycles of success.
Participants will learn the economics of money, its personal and community impact and how to reframe their financial approach recognizing how family dynamics has influenced their personal money habits.
The program’s financial component covers how money works, banking, saving, budgeting, credit and investing—a highly popular component where kids learn to create stock portfolios.
Additionally, participants will explore career planning, educational choices, trades, employment, entrepreneurship, and job readiness, identifying gifts and abilities for future success.
The program also emphasizes anti-violence strategies such as identifying red flag situations, de-escalation techniques, and knowing when and how to seek help.
It’s no secret that we are experiencing an epidemic of violence among our youth in this city and other cities around the country.
We have taken the responsibility of reshaping young minds to begin to think in terms of using their God-given talents and gifts to not only open the door to better opportunities for themselves but also position them to make major impacts in their community.
We don’t hold our youth accountable for what they haven’t yet learned—but once they gain the education and tools to break free from cycles of poverty and violence, we expect them to rise to the challenge and do better.
Building Cycles of Success℠ is a free, incentivized, hands-on program designed to keep youth engaged and motivated from start to finish.
Participants have the opportunity to earn incentives by showing up for class, participating in class activities, and completing assignments. Additional incentives may also become available throughout the program.
At program’s end, each participant will have an opportunity to open their first bank account and deposit funds earned for their program participation.
Building Cycles of Success℠ is offered each summer for 6th through 12th-grade students living in Louisville.
Students meet weekly in a caring environment with a host of instructors, speakers, and committed individuals who are investing their time and talent in their success. We serve healthy lunches made with familiar foods that promote better health outcomes and reinforces the connection between wise spending, self-care, and long-term success.
The program is committed to providing a positive, hope-filled alternative to help participants avoid problems that may lead to negative encounters with law enforcement during the summer months. Please contact us if you or your child need additional information.
